Join us in Worship at Old Pine where we praise God and delve into the sacred story. We gather at the font and table and seek to serve our neighbor.
Throughout the year, the Mission Committee provides opportunities to participate and get involved in fund and friend raising events. On Friday, October 17th we will be hosting a “Back Room Fundraiser”. We are going to travel back to the roaring 20’s when jazz and speakeasies were all the rage. Come and join us in our own “back room”, the Duffield Room, from 7:00pm to 10:00pm and enjoy some great jazz, food, drinks and basket raffles. Tickets are $25.00 prior to the event, $30.00 at the door and $10.00 for children. Tickets will be available starting on Homecoming Sunday, September 14th.
If you are interested in joining the fellowship and ministry of the Old Pine Street Presbyterian Church, you are warmly invited to be part of this fall's Membership Exploration Group. The initial get-together of those interested in membership will be Sunday, October 26th immediately following worship and Coffee/Fellowship Time. (Please note the date change from the original October 12th.) Childcare and lunch always provided! To join or to get more information, please email or call 215-925-8051.
One of the most important aspects of our Christian faith is the mission work we carry out. Jesus specifically calls us to "feed the hungry, clothe the naked, welcome the stranger, visit those who are in prison."
But how do we do that? What exactly is the imperative to help others and what should our motivation be? Should we give to every person who asks for money in the street? Should we donate to every charity that asks? What about our careers? What about the way we budget our finances? What about the environment?
To help us explore these challenging questions, the Mission Committee will be sponsoring a discussion series on Mission. We had our first meeting on Sunday, Sept. 21st after the morning worship service and will continue on the 3rd Sunday of every month. Childcare and a light lunch will be provided. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn and discuss ideas about mission in both our personal lives and our life as a congregation. We hope you'll join us!
